Beginners Edge Sports Training puts a ball at your child’s feet beginning at 18 months old! We teach core skills formatted in a FUN, safe and loosely-structured, non-league environment where your child learns eye/foot and eye/hand coordination, listening skills, following directions, motor-skills, balance, teamwork and so much more! Our success is made possible by our fantastic Coaches and parent-facilitated involvement (when needed). As your young players grow with our program so does the structure and Curriculums used within the class. Dribbling and ball control will always be taught throughout each weekly 45-minute class. Specialty skills such as Headers, Throw-ins, Goalie Skills, Defensive moves, Passing (etc) are introduced in the 2nd half of each class for your 31 month old and older children. Scrimmaging is also encouraged to reinforce the skills learned in class. Come check out why this is the B.E.S.T. soccer program in the Valley!
Please bring #3 or #4 size ball, sneakers and plenty of water.
If you are taking classes at our Scottsdale & Shea facility, balls are supplied but you are welcome to bring your own with your child’s name on it.
All-inclusive play allows for ALL kids to enjoy themselves while learning skills. Our skill building curriculum stresses keeping a ball at the kids feet for dribbling, soccer stops, scoring goals and much more in our 45-minutes of fun and learning. All age groups will include: Fun, fitness activities, coordination, balance and agility development, and children will be introduced to tactical skills as they prepare to play in a competitive setting. Should your child be the exception to the rule and need to play up in age please register them in an older class (with Coach permission) or call the office for advice.
Beginners (18-30 Months)
100% parent participation class using many colorful props and quickly-changing activities to engage young children in fine and gross motor skill learning/development. Appropriate sized balls are used for kicking, throw-ins and yes, we even do headers with squishy balls or balloons. A soft, but structured approach includes lots of running, exciting activities and FUN!
Dribblers (31 months + 3 year olds)
Parent-Facilitation on an individual basis
This is your child’s new beginning to our non-league, skill-building program. This program is the only one in the Valley who will have as many games, activities and props that introduce dribbling, kicking, throw-ins, headers and goalie skills at such a young age. We will continue to teach children the fundamental soccer principles. Unlike other programs that only use a ball, we still use many fun props and add new progressions weekly. Scrimmaging may be introduced at the end of each class to reinforce the skills learned that day and get introduced to playing as a team in a game setting.
Kickers (4 + 5 year olds)
Independant Play on an individual basis
More concentration on scoring the big goals, punch kicks, dribbling, and over-all ball control is turned up a notch in these classes. Teamwork, listening and following directions are stressed more by the instructors. Your kids will do a lot of running from the beginning of class through the end. A greater emphasis will be placed on scrimmaging to enhance the skills learned in class.
Attackers (5 & up year olds)
When it comes to non-league programs such as ours – we will get your kids ready for competitive play coupled with good sportsmanship. Pull backs, shielding, heads up dribbling, passing to teammates and goalie skills are stressed. . “I want the Ball”, ” No You Cant Have It” – the concept of competition is introduced and encouraged. All Skills are stressed and encouraged in order to become the best attacker or sweeper there is. Scrimmaging will challenge kids on more of a competitive basis.
