Policies

B.E.S.T. General Policies

Babies

They are welcome to observe the class but for safety reasons, we may not allow these younger children to walk and crawl around the field and play with equipment on the same field as the class.

If you wish, you may ask the instructor for some equipment for the child to play with in another area where classes are not being conducted.

Behavioral Issues

Staff will redirect the camper to more appropriate behavior.
If inappropriate behavior continues, the camper will be reminded of behavior guidelines and camp rules that are discussed at the beginning of camp. The camper will be asked to decide on the best course of action to correct his or her behavior.
If a child’s behavior still does not meet expectations and is affecting the experience of other campers, he/she will be referred to one of the Camp Directors.
If inappropriate behavior continues, as a final action step the camper may be dismissed from camp.
The Office Manager or Camp Director may also be called upon to work with entire groups who need additional support and behavior guidance.
Examples of unacceptable behavior:
Refusing to follow behavior guidelines or camp rules.
Using profanity, vulgarity or obscenity.
Stealing or damaging property (personal or camp property).
Refusal to participate in activities or cooperate with staff (campers do not have to participate in activities but they are encouraged to).
Disrupting a program.
Leaving a program room without permission.
Endangering the health and safety of children and/or staff.
Teasing, making fun or bullying of other campers or staff.
Fighting of any kind or ANY physical altercation with another camper or Staff.

Camper fees are non-refundable if a camper is sent home for disciplinary reasons. Physical violence or bullying toward another camper or staff member will result in immediate dismissal from the camp program.

Class Scheduling & Changes Made By B.E.S.T. Staff

B.E.S.T. reserves the right to delay or cancel classes where enrollment is fewer than 3 children.
We will make every effort to enroll your child in another class should this occur.
Since classes that are less than three students will be subject to schedule changes, please have a second class choice time in mind.
Customers of classes cancelled by B.E.S.T. will receive a 100% refund otherwise we strictly adhere to our No Refund Policy.
B.E.S.T. at times will choose to hold classes with three children enrolled.
B.E.S.T. at no time promises or leads customers to believe that there will be full classes.
With three children B.E.S.T. has the option of keeping or canceling the class in order to maintain a fluid schedule for the coaches, facilities and the program.

Class Re-Scheduling & Limbo Email

If you register for a class and we call and email you about your class being cancelled you will be placed in a “Limbo” location on our registration system.
Your registration is fully and 100% refundable until the first day of the session you originally registered for.
Should we not hear back before the first day of your previously registered session you will NOT receive a refund, rather you will receive a full credit on your BEST Account.
Once a credit is issued a refund will not be issued for any reason.

Crying Child Or Sick Child

PLEASE READ ALL. Although children who do not stop crying will be asked to leave until they are ready to join us again.

There are many reasons why children cry; separation from parents, feeling out of control, afraid of a new situation, hunger, or tiredness. Each and every reason will go away with time and positive reinforcement, except for hunger and tired. Therefore, please pick times that do not directly conflict with your child’s nap time and please feed the hungry tummy prior to class. Each instructor can share many stories with you about reluctant, fearful or shy students that end up happy. Please remember, crying, fussing, non-participation is much more difficult for the parent than the child or the instructor.
If you should see your child is truly upset or crying non-stop, please feel free to come and join them on the field as long as you feel it be necessary.
If you can not stop your child from crying please exit the playing area as it makes it very difficult for the kids and Coach to focus.
Children who can not stop crying will be asked to leave.
SICK CHILDREN – Please keep your child home if they are sick. As a courtesy to our coaches and the other children in our program, we require that if your child has been sick they must be BOTH fever, and symptom free for a MINIMUM of 24 hours before attending any B.E.S.T. Programs.
Should they come to a program sick, or get sick during it, you will be asked to either take them home, or come pick them up and take them home right away, as they cannot be at the program. We are happy to work with parents on this, as we understand it is nearly impossible for kids to avoid getting sick at some point.
Should your child be sent home sick from Sports classes, you can call the office and we will schedule a make-up class for your child at the nearest availability.
** Should your child be SICK please do not come to camp. We ask that you please do not send sick children to camp to save losing money. Sick children will be sent home and credit not provided as it is unwise to send sick children to be around others.

Please check in with your Coach each week. Please provide your child’s first and last name and the class they are participating in. Please do not assume we know who you are as we have many new students being added each week.

ATTIRE: We require sneakers, NO sandals, NO dress shoes.
SICK CHILDREN: PLEASE DO NOT bring them to class and get every one else sick.
LOST AND FOUND: We do not maintain an annual lost and found at our facility. Items are left all the time and we are not responsible for these items. We do make attempts to call the parents if the items are labeled but should they not be labeled the items most likely will be discarded at the very latest the first of every month.
Parent participation classes – Please only one parent per child on the playing field. This will allow for more focus and attention to the activities.
Absolutely no food, drinks or gum during class.
Potty: Please have your child use the bathroom before classes.
Safety – We strive to provide the utmost in security and safety for all your children. Should you have a concern of any kind, please bring it up immediately to the Coach or if necessary to the Director.

Instructor Requests

We understand that once your child finds an instructor with whom he or she is comfortable, you may want to continue with that instructor.

We will try our best to accommodate you with your request; however, we can not guarantee that you will be assigned the instructor that you request.
Since all of our teachers are excellent, bringing along their personalities and skills, we feel that it may benefit your child to take classes from a variety of instructors.

Instructor Substitutions & Absence

We schedule our instructors to avoid any unnecessary staff absences; however, at times an instructor may be unavoidably absent.

Should your instructor be absent, we will provide a competent substitute or provide you with a facility option close in proximity.
In the extreme case, when no substitute can be provided:
We will arrange a makeup class, issue a voucher worth the full value of the class, or find a location within 10-15 miles of the current location.
We at no time guarantee the same instructor all session long although we do work hard to maintain this continuity. Human resource management is the toughest job our Company has due to the part time nature of the positions.

This is also to prevent injury to the participation children.
Older children will be asked to leave the field should they be a distraction to the class.

Parents Role

As our classes and curriculum are based on age, there will be differences in the progress of your child versus the other children.

Please do not compare. Just as children learn to walk and talk at different rates, they will progress in B.E.S.T. programs at their own pace.
Praise even the smallest accomplishments.
Let your child know that you are proud of them. Positive reinforcement is always one of the greatest tools in any learning experience.
At B.E.S.T. we utilize a pull philosophy, rather than a push philosophy.
We feel it best to include them in activities they enjoy partaking in, rather than pushing them into an uncomfortable situation.

This is based on availability and is NOT worth any cash value or credit worthy.

Session Or Camp Cancellation By Customer

Please remember when reading this, NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN FOR ANY REASON. Please see above Section “REFUNDS”.

Please note the NO REFUND Policy Remains in full effect for ANY REASON a customer cancels. If B.E.S.T. cancels the Camp and is not providing the service, it is a 100% refund to a credit card. If a customer cancels within (48 hours or same day or after) there is no refund or credit that can be provided.  All Cancellations 2 Days (48 hours) in advance will be credited 50% per camp/day or week /per kid*.  Please note this cancellation will be subject to a recalculation to account for any adjustments to a package deal which resulted in a discounted per day price. This recalculation will result in a new total.  i.e. calling to change a 5-day week enrollment into a 4-day enrollment. This will now be calculated as 4 individual day enrollment with the canceled day balance being credited at 50%. Canceling within 48 hours or during the same day of the camp or calling any time after a missed day is not refundable or creditable for any reason. This spot has been sold and is not marketable.  Finally: We politely ask that you do not send sick children to camp to save losing money. Sick children will be sent home with no credit provided as it is unwise to send sick children to be around others.
You may cancel your session at anytime in order to receive a B.E.S.T. credit to your B.E.S.T. account. This is not a credit card refund, this is a CREDIT that will be applied to your B.E.S.T. account.
Once payment is received via cash, credit card or money order any session cancellation request will result in a $25 “Cancellation Fee” off the number of classes you have remaining. The balance will go on your B.E.S.T. account as a CREDIT!
Only a session fee is creditable.
The number of days you will be credited back is calculated by the cash value of the # of days remaining in the session not the number of days you have not participated, minus the $25 admin fee.
Your credit may be used for the children within your family or feel free to transfer it to another family.
Should you challenge this policy with a chargeback from you cc company, this offer of a CREDIT is null and void and there will be no refund of any kind given as our Policies are posted and agreed upon at the time of your registration with B.E.S.T.
Our policy has been created to provide an non prejudicial solution for customers needed to leave a session prior to the completion.
Parents Night Out and Drop and Shop are NOT Refundable or Creditable. Sorry folks we staff and purchase supplies based on these numbers.

Trial Classes

We offer a non-obligation trial class which allows you to pay for one class without a full session obligation.
To secure a single trial select the drop in class option.
The week you register for the Trial (in most cases) will be the week you trial.

You will be charged just $15 for the class.
Upon completing the class, if you choose to join us for the rest of the session PLEASE call the office as your spot is NOT secured.
PLEASE NOTE: Should you not show-up to the Trial class on time we will reschedule based on availability.
Should the class not go as you feel it should have, and you would like to try one more time you will be able to do this at the discretion of the office.
A Trial is a ONE TIME occurrence.
All classes after this trial will be billed at $20 a class. Multiple Trial online requests will be adjusted to this charge automatically if multiple Trial payments are made in the same or consecutive sessions or multiple times in the same year.

Weather Cancellations

B.E.S.T. isn’t able to control the weather and weather is a risk enrolling for an outdoor class you are willing to take, seeing that we are in AZ and it is very rare.

Should there be a chance your location will be rained out please plan on the following:
Checking our website (weather tab) and calling our voicemail as when possible we will keep these as updated as possible.
Going down to the field to see if there are classes as our Coach will be there for the first set of classes providing the office with updates. They may also stay if the weather looks like it may clear up. PLEASE REFER TO OUR WEBSITE FOR WEATHER UPDATES.
Add us to Twitter.com: Beginners Edge Sports or @BeginnersEdge as we send our updates there as well.
These classes will be subject to a make-up should you choose to make-up this time but unfortunately this can not be used as a class credit. This make-up must be made during the same session of enrollment unless it is the last week of the session whereas you will be able to schedule a make-up anytime after the first week of the next NEW session IF enrolled in that session.
If you are NOT enrolled in the next NEW session you can call AFTER the 2nd week of the session is over then we can try to schedule you based on availability on a first come first serve basis. We do hold the right to reserve and limit the number of makeups in a class. PLEASE do not just go to a class thinking there is room as you could be turned away. Please schedule through our office.
Please note, it is not B.E.S.T.’s responsibility to contact everyone about weather related issues since we have no ability to contact hundreds of participants due to changing weather conditions across the Valley.
We do sometimes create make-up classes as well at a Central location. Although not convenient for everyone, we find that many people do not come to make up classes and having one central location and a sign up sheet ensures that we will have attendance at these classes. The sport and the age groups are up to the discretion of the business so we do apologize in advance if the sport you missed is not being offered.
