5 BEST Tips to Run Faster

Just about every sport requires running. From a fast break in basketball to a beating the keeper for a game-winning header, speed helps win. It is never too early to start working on running faster and improving your speed. Parents, here are things you can do to help your kids run faster. Yes, you can participate as well.

5 Tips to Run Faster

If you want to run faster, you must practice. Here are 5 tips to running faster.

  1. Stretch

Even as a child it is important to stretch. Stretching will help you increase your flexibility and lengthen your strides. Create a good stretching habit early on and start to improve your speed.

  1. Jump

Running is about having quick feet. Pick up a jump rope and start training like a boxer. Improve your foot speed and you will run faster. Now, jumping rope is going to be a little advanced for your toddler sports fan, but it is never too early to learn to jump rope.

  1. Proper Breathing

Practice belly breathing by filling the stomach with air, not just the chest. This will increase the oxygen to your body. This will be important not only for speed but also distance.

  1. Add Weight

Do you remember growing up and using ankle weights? Yes, they still work. Adding a little weight to your running will help you develop the muscles that propel you forward. Adding a little weight can help you run faster, just make sure to keep your form.

  1. Work On Your Form

Just like kicking a soccer ball or shooting a three-pointer, your form is important. It is never too early to learn the right running form. Your form is probably the single most important factor to running faster.

There you have it. 5 tips to help your child run a little faster (sorry parents, I know how hard it is to keep up now). Speed is important in all sports, so get out there and start using the right form, adding a little weight, breathing properly, jumping rope, and make sure to stretch.
